.. Vintage Label Missing 1940 Cocktail Dress - Late 40s -Label Missing- Womens bright blue, acetate, formal dress, having a back zipped close below the lowered back neck. The bodice is constructed with boning pieces and has a pleated piece extending from the sides to the center front, with dart shaping. Straps are connected to the inner piece. Shaded blue flower with velveteen leaves has been stitched to the outer bodice layer and was likely added in later decades to update the appearance. The dress is a figure hugging sheath styling, with a cape piece constructed in the waist seam and has pleating into the seam, doing the shaping. This piece is underlined in light blue satin acetate fabric. The garment 45in measures from the shoulder to hem. According to decedents, the dress was worn while owner was a model in L.A.

Center front piece Vees out from the waist. Tight gathering on each side front conceal an inverted ease pleat, with center back having an open kick pleat. The belt is self fabric and shirred on form soft gathers, attaching into a 2in W x 4in H slip through buckle, having a dramatic effect. The garment is fully lined and measures 40in from the shoulder to the hem.

Short jacket is also lined, with dart shaping, wide, slightly scooped rounded neckline and three back hooks, with a small bow at the top. Fabric has an embossed floral pattern.
